If you are new to the GE revision, you might begin with Part I (10:15 mins), which provides an overview of the GE Goals (Phase I) and of the current faculty taskforce's work (Phase II) from Feb 2011 to April 2012. Part I shares the processes, objectives, and challenges of General Education revision. We also share key insights from faculty, student focus groups, advisors, employers, and research about GE.

We provide descriptions of the individual components of the new campus-wide GE curriculum being voted on by the UCCS faculty in December 2012. The standing GE Faculty Governance Committee structure and initial implementation questions are also explained.

This document describes the individual components of the new campus-wide GE curriculum. For each component, the document described the objectives, how it will be structured and supported, the guidelines that all courses meeting that requirement will have in common, and how the component delivers on the promise of the GE Goals.
AAC&U High-Impact Educational Practices
The American Association of College and Universities had identified educational practices which positively impact students' overall GPA, time to graduation, and graduation completion rate. The UCCS campus-wide GE curriculum incorporates several of these high-impact practices.
Initial Ideas on Implementation
Once the GE curricular structure is approved by the faculty, Phase III: Implementation will begin. The standing GE Faculty Governance Structure (approved along side the GE curriculum) will plan and manage the implementation work over the next several years. The Provost's office has a vision for Phase III as well as initial ideas on implementation questions.
