About Dr. Hillary Fouts

Dr. Hillary Fouts serves as Vice Provost and Associate Vice Chancellor for Research and Dean of the Graduate School. She also serves as Research Integrity Officer and Technology Transfer Officer and is Professor of Psychology. An interdisciplinary scholar and academic leader, Dr. Fouts’ research lies at the intersection of developmental psychology, anthropology, and public health. She brings more than two decades of experience conducting interdisciplinary, cross-cultural, and community-based research, including leading or co-leading close to $3.5 million in federal- and foundation-funded projects and mentoring nearly 60 graduate students.

Through previous roles at the National Institutes of Health, the University of Tennessee, and Western Oregon University, Dr. Fouts brings broad experience advancing graduate education and research, building institutional research capacity, and cultivating strong research cultures. Her leadership is grounded in creating environments where faculty and students can pursue meaningful scholarship, develop collaborations, and thrive. She is particularly passionate about advancing graduate student success, supporting faculty research development, expanding opportunities for student research, and fostering interdisciplinary scholarship with meaningful public impact.
