About Dr. Ying Shang

Dr. Ying Shang serves as the Dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) since July 2024. During her time as the Dean, she has led the $47 million engineering building renovation project, launched new academic programs, supported student enrollment and retention, secured ABET accreditation for five engineering programs, led the creation of the campus Interjectural Property Policy, and secured federal grants to support the college growth.

Dr. Shang earned her B.S. in Control Science from Shandong University in China and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Shang’s research expertise includes discrete-event control systems and hybrid systems with applications in communication networks, transportation systems, electric vehicles, and manufacturing systems.
